Lauren Edmonds

Biography

Lauren Edmonds (b.1993) is a multimedia artist living and working in the Moreton Bay region, Queensland Australia. They completed a Bachelor of Fine Art with Class I Honours at Queensland College of Art, Griffith University in 2015.

Edmonds’ work often explores diverse socio-political themes, aiming to encourage viewers or participants to critically engage with them. They work in a variety of media including: drawing, animation, installation and object making. As their art practice has developed, Edmonds fosters a growing interest in creating interactive artworks and mixing technology with the handmade.

Edmonds’ artwork I dun good (2015) was selected to exhibit in Experimenta Make Sense: International Triennial of New Media Art in 2017. This exhibition toured Australia, from 2018-2021.

In 2015, Edmonds received two awards in the Sunshine Coast Art Prize New Media category for 2014, and again a finalist for the 2015 prize, opened to artists nationally. In 2014 she was a finalist in the Marie Ellis Prize for Drawing. Edmonds has held two solo exhibitions, one in 2009-10 and one in 2012.
